Very old bronze Buddha from the Lan Xang period, 15th century, Laos.
 
Exceptional patina with an emerald green color.
Object in great condition for its age.
 
Buddha with both hands resting on top of each other, palms up, fingers extended, they rest on the legs, in dhyāna-mudrā.
This gesture is characteristic of two periods of meditation during Śākyamuni's life: during his period of extreme fasting, and under the bodhi tree before his Awakening.
Buddha is here seated on his throne.
