Beautiful bronze sculpture from Cambodia, Longvek, 16th century.
After the almost total destruction of Angkor, Longvek was chosen as the new capital of the state of Cambodia. This city was located halfway between Phnom Penh and the southern end of Tonle Sa. Buddhas from this period are hard to find as many disappeared during the bloody Khmer Rouge period.
Beautiful little sculpture in good condition of Buddha taking the earth as a witness. Sublime patina and details are still clearly visible in an ethnic style of Khmer features.
Good condition overall. Some cracks due to age.
