Finely and meticulously carved with well-rendered details signed Ryuei Nakagawa Ryuei.
Nakagawa Ryuei, one of the best sculptors of his generation, was a student of Kaneda Kenjiro (Master in sculpture).
From 1906 to 1910, he was also a member of the Tokyo Chokokai (Tokyo Sculptors Association), a group dedicated to the development and improvement of the art of sculpture.
Nakagawa Ryuei was one of the best ivory carvers of his generation.
