Sītā is a deity of Hinduism. It is one of the avatars (divine incarnation) of Lakshmi, the companion of Vishnu.
In Rāmāyaṇa, Sītā is the wife of Rāma with whom she experiences a tormented sentimental life.
It personifies the cultivated land and its vegetation and symbolizes fertility.
