From the greater Himalayas, a very special yak horn mounted in repoussé copper with a small funnel for filling the horn at the end and decorated with lotus petals, svastika, among other symbols.
The wider end has been plugged with a disk of wood. Two copper rings are attached to the horn where a leather strap (missing) allowed the horn to be slung over a shoulder, or the back. The Horn is used for carrying a drink, the Chaang, which is a Tibetan beer brewed from barley, millet, or rice grains and especially popular amongst Himalayan's people. It has relatively low alcohol content and is said to ease the harsh cold of the Himalayan Mountains. This piece has a beautiful patina. Nice work.
