Yali is a mythical creature seen in many temples in southern India, often carved on the pillars. He can be depicted as part lion, part elephant, part horse, and in similar forms.
The Ratha designates a processional chariot, carrying the divinity of a temple during festivals, in a climate of great religious fervor, with an accompaniment of songs and mantras. These chariots are made of wood, with large wheels. They are pulled by horses, elephants, or men.
